PLC Technician

Job Type: Direct Hire

Location: Onsite at Airbus, Mobile, AL

Shift: 2nd shift
There is a shift premium of Regular Time $2, Overtime $3, and Double time $4

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced PLC Technician with a strong background in Allen Bradley and Siemens systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, testing, and repairing electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within a high-volume production environment. The role requires a deep understanding of PLC programming, HMI configuration, and control circuit troubleshooting to ensure efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Startup and Shutdown Operations: Manage equipment start-up and shutdown in line with operational requirements, ensuring adherence to OSHA safety protocols.
  • Technical Support: Provide comprehensive support for PLC systems and network interfaces across the manufacturing floor.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair issues related to mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic systems, including numerical controls, power supplies, and HMI devices.
  • Wiring and Circuit Analysis: Interpret and act upon wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to perform emergency repairs, installations, and routine inspections.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Conduct plant-wide maintenance of electronic systems, perform component testing, and replace faulty circuit boards and other electronic devices.
  • Program Development: Develop and document training programs focused on control systems for knowledge transfer across the team.
  • Safety Compliance: Promote and adhere to safety practices, including the correct use of PPE and immediate reporting of hazards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to analyze and resolve production challenges.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification or Degree: Technician Certification or Associate's Degree in a related field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in PLC programming, HMI configuration, and high-voltage electrical maintenance within an industrial environment.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of electrical/electronic components, diagnostics using specialized instruments, and practical skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
  • Computer Proficiency: Strong experience with PLC software, Microsoft Office, and troubleshooting software/hardware issues.

Work Conditions:

  • Environment: The role involves working indoors, with some exposure to noise, dust, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Shifts: Flexibility to work on 2nd, 3rd, or split shifts as needed. Some travel may be required (up to 10%).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform medium physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent movement, including climbing ladders and navigating work areas on foot.
