Education and Outreach Specialist

Position Summary:

  • The Education and Outreach Specialist is responsible for implementing sexual health education and outreach programing for youth, caregivers, and professionals involved in child welfare in Kansas. This position will deliver sexual health education and outreach programming for youth, caregivers, and professionals affiliated with KVC Kansas’ residential facility as well as residential placement facilities throughout Kansas sponsored by various agencies.
Location:
  • KVC Shelter Kansas City, KS
Education:
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Human Services related field or equivalent experience
Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid auto insurance
  • Must be at least 21 years old
Experience:
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children and families
Preferred Experience/Skills:

Essential Duties:
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to collaborate with various levels and agencies.
  • Organize agendas, pace activities, and track progress across different areas.
  • Stay informed about sexual and reproductive health.
  • Use creative thinking to excel in campaign implementation.
  • Maintain professionalism and adaptability in diverse situations.
  • Deliver oral presentations on sexual health topics.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Teach sexual health education to Kansas child welfare youth, caregivers, and professionals.
  • Provide innovative educational programs to high-risk populations in various settings.
  • Learn and teach sexual health educational curricula.
  • Conduct sessions with supportive and inclusive techniques for groups.
  • Manage classroom behavior to ensure engagement.
  • Ensure fidelity to the curriculum during implementation.
  • Stay updated on sexual health innovations and relevant laws.
  • Build community relationships through partnerships.
  • Assess program effectiveness regularly with community groups and experts.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and commitment to core values.
  • Maintain logs and issue reports on education and outreach activities.
  • Conduct student evaluations as needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
