SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST ASSISTANT (SLPA)

Early Learning Center (1.0)

JOB GOAL/PURPOSE: This position provides direct services to students based on IEP goals and services. Consult and supervision is provided by a Speech Language Pathologist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree Required; Bachelor's Degree PreferredCommonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professionals licensure
  • Experience as a SLPA in a school setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Technology experience


REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or Director of Special Education

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Provide direct services as indicated on the student's Individualized
Education Program with consultation and supervision by Speech Language Pathologist.
2. Collects and maintains data on student progress per the IEP goals as well as direct logs of therapy services.
3. Maintain compliance of regulations of Individualized Education Program development, team meetings, Medicaid billing, and progress reports.

4. Participate in the development of student's Individual Education Program (IEP) with direct supervision by Speech Language Pathologist.
5. Assist with the management of communication and amplification devices
6. Assist teachers and other special education staff in the development and implementation of curriculum accommodations/modifications and appropriate classroom strategies as determined by the Team process and subsequent IEP formulation with direct supervision by Speech Language Pathologist

7.Provide information to parents and guardians of students of direct services as needed.

8. Perform other responsibilities as deemed appropriate and assigned by a supervisor
and/or designee

EXPERIENCE:

Safety Care trained, preferred

1-2 years working in a school setting

Training in Lindamood Bell

Spanish speaking preferred
