Albuquerque City Drug (a FarmaKeio NM company) is seeking a Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) who will staff as a retail or compounding lead as qualified. This is not your regular retail pharmacy position. If you prefer a high-volume grind this is not the position you are looking for. The primary responsibility of the Pharmacy Manager is to ensure adherence to facility SOPs and procedures, state and federal regulations, and directly supervise pharmacy staff. Under direct supervision of the Director of Operations or Chief Operations Officer, oversees all aspects of the pharmacy operations, ensures pharmacy goals are achieved, assists with pharmacy growth planning, and assists with staff development and training. The PIC ensures that all services comply with professional standards and applicable laws. Exercises broad judgment in a professional field requiring extensive subject matter knowledge and expertise, while keeping senior leadership fully informed of operating issues and results. Hours: 40 hours per week Monday through Friday. Hours are generally 9 AM – 5 PM but can vary from 7 AM to 6 PM depending on staff position. Responsibilities: Pharmacist Major Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to): • Maintain licensure in good standing with all applicable states. • Maintain professional competence for all duties performed. • Liaison with the quality department. • Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulatory agencies. • Receive and reduce to writing verbal prescription orders. • Perform duties in compliance with SOPs and best practices. • Interpret, and clarify with the prescribing practitioner as necessary, prescription orders. • Input patient and prescription information and/or supervise such work as performed by others. • Support order verification within the computer order processing queue to ensure facility and product accuracy. • Offer information and advice as appropriate to prescribers, other health care professionals, and other employees. • Create and/or check for accuracy and safety of prescription, compounding, and shipment paperwork. • Perform in-process and final checks of retail and compounded products. • Directly supervise technicians and other employees involved in day-to-day pharmacy operations. • Counsel and advise patients and caregivers concerning dispensed prescriptions. • Provide patients with OTC recommendations. • Prescribe and administer immunizations. • Interact politely and effectively with patients, practitioners, and others. • Perform as needed all duties of pharmacy technicians. Managerial Major Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to): • Responsible for the execution of opening and closing activities; either directly, or through delegation to a staff pharmacist. • Represent the facility in all state and federal regulatory audits, visits, and communication. • Maintain the pharmacy in compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations. • Assist in documentation and completion of Adverse Drug Event forms. • Monitor staff productivity, deliverables, timelines, and quality of work product to submit recommendations to the corporate team as it pertains to adjusting staff levels and operational processes to ensure operational effectiveness. • Assist in ensuring proper training and ongoing competency of all pharmacists, technicians, and other supportive employees. • Ensure the security of employees, the pharmacy, inventory, and patient records. • Ensure the uninterrupted hiring and operation of the pharmacy. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in pharmacy from an accredited US College of Pharmacy and licensed in the state of New Mexico. • State of Texas licensure or ability to obtain Texas licensure within 90 days of hire. • Obtaining licensure in other states may be required to fulfill state-specific regulatory obligations. • Experience in retail or compounding pharmacy. • Proven effective verbal and written communication skills. • Superior customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills. • Prescriptive authority for immunizations. • Organizational skills. • Accountability. • Integrity. • Strong computer skills. • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods of time, and having no allergies to chemicals that might be used during compounding. Preferred Qualifications: • Passionate about integrative, regenerative, and functional medicine. • 2+ years of pharmacy management experience. • WinRx and WinScan software experience. • Independent pharmacy experience. • Ability to think outside the box. • Knowledge of drug cost and drug plan reimbursements. • Prescriptive authority for oral contraception, tobacco cessation, and TB testing. • Pharmacist Clinician (PhC) certification or Test to Treat certification/prescriptive authority. • Bilingual in English and Spanish. • Experience working with standard ERP/MRP systems. • Experience interpreting compliance requirements and regulations is required. • Knowledge of DEA, FDA, and state regulations pertaining to manufacturing and handling of controlled substances. • Knowledge of working with the Clean Room team to ensure production goals are created, tracked, and met. Identify trends or issues that are delaying batch production or causing batches to be canceled.
