JOB PURPOSE

Occupational Health Services are provided according to government regulations and guidelines for employees. The Occupational Health Nurse develops, interprets, administers, and evaluates all phases of the Green Lake Chemicals Occupational Health Program. Additionally, the OHN acts as a resource in medical emergencies at the facility and provides both preventative and immediate care to all employees and contractors. This position reports directly to the Human Resources Business Partner.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • All job activities should be executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Principles and the Culture of Prevention.
  • Embrace INEOS Life Saving Rules in all aspects of the job.
  • Provide nursing evaluations and care to personal illness and injured employees.
  • Promotes injury and illness prevention, employee wellness and environmental health.
  • Assists in contractor medical emergencies as required by contractor or Chemical management.
  • Performs annual physicals and testing for identified groups including but not limited to hearing, vision, blood work, and pulmonary function.
  • Ensures that OH policies and procedures are maintained, including standing orders and directives from the appropriate physician through direct intervention and monitoring.
  • Ensures that OH record systems and required records are maintained according to policy and procedures; records include those on all inured or ill workers, clinical/medical reports, chemical exposure records, and audiometric testing records.
  • Manages leave processes both FMLA and parental/family leave in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Ensures that the Disability Management and related illness programs are implemented by managing each case (focusing effort on STD) including approving return to work and writing restrictions when necessary.
  • Works with contracted physician/clinic and employee to develop a "return to work plan of action" and follow up on plan.
  • Provides direct nursing care under doctor's standing orders/government guidelines for occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses, coordinating/conducting appropriate laboratory tests, determining the need for outside consultations for occupational injury or illness.
  • Draw lab work, collect urine, and performs drug screening.
  • Administers the health surveillance programs in accordance with OSHA regulation, Corporate, and Green Lake policies and procedures.
  • Assist in coordination of training and continuing education of employees in First Aid, CPR, Infection Control, and Hearing Conservation.
  • Responsible for assisting in follow-up of workmen compensation claims.
  • Recommends, conducts, and evaluates wellness programs, which stress optimum health for all employees and activities, and programs, and activities to promote health awareness, health maintenance, and improve quality of life.
  • Helps develop the annual budget and is responsible for managing spend within budget.
  • Conducts/facilitates routine and annual inspections/calibrations of medical equipment.
  • Refers employees with social/emotional issues to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for evaluation.
  • Assists Human Resources Department in all matters involving employee Medical/Health issues (non-occupational injuries)
  • Reports all work-related exposures/injuries/illnesses to management.
  • Provides leadership to four paramedics, ensuring compliance with company policies and protocols.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Registered Nurse Occupational Health Certification or 5+ years of occupational experience.
  • Specimen Collector Certification
  • ACLS Certification
  • Audio Testing certification with CAOHC
  • Pulmonary Function Testing qualified with NIOSH.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
