Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides therapy to patients and/or their families.
Individual Evaluation and Assessment: Provide psychiatric assessment of individuals. Based on the evaluation, makes appropriate referrals, both interoffice and interagency. Duties, as described herein, shall be carried out (i) in accordance with all applicable laws and rules and regulations, (ii) and in a professional and competent manner, and in accordance with the generally accepted standard of care and (iii) in accordance with all policies, rules and regulations of Elliot Behavioral Health Services and Elliot Health System, as they may be amended from time to time. Serves the best interests of the patient and exercises his or her best independent professional judgment when rendering care.
Documentation of Services: Maintains ongoing documentation of patient interventions. Documentation must be completed within 24-hours of the service date. This includes documentation of initial psychiatric assessment, treatment plans, and therapy sessions and any other patient interactions including phone calls. Documentation will be completed using an Electronic Medical Record as provided by Elliot Health System. Cooperates with any audits of patient charts conducted to ensure compliance with all coding and documentation requirements and any compliance education reasonably required by the Medical Director.
Participates in Quality Improvement Activities: Attends and provides input in Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance projects as deemed necessary by the Medical Director or Practice Manager. Such Quality Improvement activities will include activities related to enhancing and maintaining patient satisfaction.
Supervision/Collaboration: Participates in ongoing peer supervision and collaboration to maintain licensure and to receive clinical input from peers. General oversight and clinical supervision will also be provided by the Medical Director or his/her designee.
Education: Participates in planning, developing, implementation and evaluation of education programs, support and services offered by Elliot Behavioral Health Services. This will include consultation and/or supervision to student interns.
Call Coverage: Participates in call coverage with other Elliot Behavior Health Service Providers. Carries pager during pre-scheduled call rotation. Collaborates with peers to determine call coverage schedule. Ensures that any time out of the office is provided in advance and ensures that call coverage is arranged prior to departure.
Utilizes a minimum of 75 percent of his/her workweek for direct patient contact hours and a maximum of 25 percent for administrative duties. Achieves budgeted volume targets on an annual basis. Schedules additional services to compensate for no show and last minute cancellations. Provides a minimum of one evening per week for patient contact hours to assure patient access to care. Utilizes centralized scheduling as a front desk function. Works with Practice Manager to create efficient use of computerized scheduling templates. Participates in Intake and Assessment Process. Accepts patients as assigned and responds to intake requests in a timely manner.
Compliance: Follows up with patients within twenty-four hours regarding last minute cancellations and no show appointments in a collaborative effort to maintain compliance. Documents telephone conversation in the electronic Medical record system provided by Elliot Health System.
Policies and Procedures: Adheres to all Elliot Health System and Elliot Behavioral Health Services Departmental Policies and Procedures.
Operations: Reviews with the Practice Manager, Elliot Behavioral Health Services: volume, workflow, no show, last minute cancellations, and other operational items.
Other Duties: Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed. Participates in appropriate role in disaster, drills and other emergency situations, preparation of Joint Commission readiness, community events, committees and other related activities as requested.
Location of Services: Services will be provided at Elliot Behavioral Health Services at 445 Cypress Street, Suite 8, Manchester, NH and also provides telemedicine remotely.
Abilities/Responsibilities
Ability to plan and perform diversified duties requiring general knowledge of policies and procedures applicable within the area. Requires considerable judgment to work independently toward general results, devising methods, modifying or adapting standard procedures to meet different conditions, making decisions based on precedent and policy.
Ability to demonstrate courtesy, compassion and respect in relating to patients, families, visitors, physicians and coworkers. Ability to communicate effectively and establish a cooperative, collaborative working environment.
Must possess general knowledge of recognized treatment interventions and skills necessary to conduct individual and/or group therapy. This includes the ability to develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients.
Must possess general knowledge of family systems and supports needed by family members. Must have the skills necessary to appropriately provide education and emotional support to family members, this includes communication skills.
Must possess skill in interviewing to gather data needed to diagnose the needs of individuals and their families.
Must have skill in preparing clear, concise case narratives and reports.Must have knowledge and skill to refer patients to appropriate social services including State and Federal agencies.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with both professional and paraprofessional institution staff and public and private sector professional staff.
Ability to understand organizational systems and how to work within them for the benefit of the patient.
Ability to assess the level of dangerousness of patients and the potential for explosive behavior.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of a wide range of community agencies.
Must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to provide psychotherapy that is appropriate to the patient's age and intellectual development.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in assessing treatment and responses and adapting care to meet the need of the patient population served: children and/or adults.
Education
Master's in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or related degree required.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year post-license experience, preferably in private practice, outpatient clinic or acute psychiatric environment. Knowledge of, and experience utilizing, various therapeutic modalities.
Certification/Licensure: Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Master Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (MLADC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) required.
Software/Hardware: EPIC and Microsoft Office.
Schedule: Monday - Friday. Hours determined by provider and practice manager based on the needs of the clinic.
