You Will:
  • Determine if a case qualifies for accessioning into the cancer registry database.
  • Analyze medical records and assign correct codes utilizing the appropriate oncology standards and data collection rules, practices.
  • Enter all information into Metriq software.
  • Work 100% remote from your home office following a structured work schedule.
You Have:
  • ODS (formerly CTR) Credential, Required.
  • Associates Degree in Health-related field, preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
  • At least 5 years of abstracting experience as a ODS/CTR (Certified Tumor Registrar) in a COC-accredited hospital applying oncology standards across all primary sites. Experience abstracting in an NCI-designated facility, preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of reportable malignant and non-malignant diseases, cancer staging and treatment, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and ICD-O-3 coding.
  • Expertise in applying oncology data collection standards, rules: SEER, AJCC, STORE, STR
  • Practical experience coding using the 2018 oncology standards (at least 3 years)
  • Proficiency using Metriq cancer registry software, preferred.
  • Ability to use an electronic medical record for data abstraction.
  • Proficiency using MS Office software, particularly Outlook, Excel, and WORD.
  • Home work area that is both physically and cyberly secure.
  • Work schedule availability that supports working full days
