Job Description

SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Quality and Compliance Manager, the Calibration Technician is responsible for monitoring and coordinating aspects of tool and equipment calibration in accordance with established calibration schedules and scheduled preventive maintenance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Support the identification, development, and application of all elements of the tool and equipment calibration process, including record control, timely and accurate processing, internal and external communication, continual gauge status, and overall flow.
  • Perform basic calibration for hand tools and equipment following established work instructions.
  • Maintain the master calibration database by ensuring complete and accurate records for all tools and equipment.
  • Contact, coordinate and work with suppliers to schedule onsite and offsite calibration activities.
  • Coordinate downtime scheduling with leads and supervisors to minimize the impact of tool and equipment shortages.
  • Oversee identification, organization and flow of tools and equipment in the calibration area.
  • Assist in the monitoring and execution of data collection plans.
  • Monitor and track information within spreadsheets and databases, as well as action item commitments and due dates, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely completion of commitments and activities while achieving high levels of quality performance.
  • Support data flow and identification on area continuous improvement boards.
  • Support kaizen activity and related activities.
  • Support manufacturing operations, including quality trending and data analysis, and assist with containment initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year calibration experience operating to ISO 9001 standards.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • IPC-WHMA-A-620 and J-STD-001 Soldering Certification preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Conversational in any other language is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Examples:
  • Basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Statistics: Interpret and analyze numerical data using statistical methods.
  • Basic algebra: The ability to manipulate symbols and equations to find unknown values, express relationships, and model situations.
  • Basic Geometry: The ability to understand and work with shapes, angles, lines, and planes.
JOB SKILLS
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred.
  • Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Experience within the Aerospace Industry with exposure to AS9100 and FAA regulations preferred.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and experience with managing multiple deadlines at once.
  • Strong technical skills including the ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Proficient in communicating information to individuals and groups in both written and presentation form.
  • Ability to be flexible and able to function comfortably in a fast paced, constantly changing, and ambiguous environment while maintaining a positive team environment.
  • Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders and/or special projects to meet customer demands.
  • A team player that can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skills with high ethical standards and a positive professional image.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to reach, stretch, push, pull, crouch, stoop, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.
  • Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.
  • Hearing protection in specific locations.
  • Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.
