Unit Clerk Duties Include: Keep patient records accurately identified. Communicate with members of the health care team, patients, and visitors using verbal and written means and equipment such as the telephone and intercom. Assist recreation aides in transporting to and from activities, rehab and appointments as needed Prepare and maintain the unit’s medical information system including patient profiles. Prepare special forms and may obtain closed records from Medical Records. Send profile and change-of-bed status on patient admission, discharge, and transfer. Assists with receiving, distributing, and sorting supplies brought to the unit. Perform clerical duties such as making copies and faxing documents. Greet visitors /consultants etc. to the unit, assist as needed. Answer incoming calls and route callers to the correct extension. Track appointments (ordered vs completed). Upload forms, consultations, resident records etc. to the electronic medical record.
