Job Summary Perform nondestructive examinations (NDE) of power plant components during scheduled and forced outage situations. Monitor and coordinate the repairs resulting from the inspection. Perform NDE inspections on those test areas that the incumbent holds certification and by using various testing methods such as: Liquid Dye Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Radiography (RT), Ultrasonic (UT) Visual Testing (VT), and Eddy Current (ET) on welds, equipment and various support components. Coordinate the work activities of scaffolding, insulating, and surface preparation crews during refueling outages. Provide technical NDE guidance to engineering, maintenance and operating departments to ensure proper communication and interpretation of test results and prompt repair of components. Coordinate the work of contract personnel and inspectors. Responsible for duties such as: updating and maintaining logs, records and files, checking and repairing NDE test equipment, and reviewing NDE procedures and inspection plans. Travel to stations to provide NDE support for outages. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following: NDE Inspector: 2+ years of directly related experience; Sr NDE Inspector: 5+ years of directly related experience; Strong organizational skills; Good written and verbal communications; Effective personal computer skills; Ability to coordinate and lead contractors; Ability to quickly process, analyze and interpret information. Education Requirements Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate degree Preferred Discipline(s): Technical Studies Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above. Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description Nuclear sites must meet DOM QA-1 Section 2.5.6 and 6.3.2, NQA-1-1994-2S-2, Section 2.1, The American Society of Nondestructive Testing Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A, June 1980 Edition, Section 6.1.6.2, 6.3, Quality Control Verification (Section 2.5.6 & 2.5.7) Millstone must meet DOM-QA-1, Section 2.5.6 & 2.5.7 Level II certification in three of the following: Liquid Dye Penetant PT-II, Magnetic Particle MT-II, Radiography RT-II, Ultrasonic UT-II, Eddy Current ET-II. Note: Dominion Energy minimum requirements may exceed stated ANSI standards and candidates must meet the Dominion Energy minimum requirements.
