About the Role As a key player in the Android engineering team, you will have a significant influence on the direction of applications developed for the Android platform. Your role will involve harnessing the latest Android technologies such as Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, Room, ARCore, Android NDK, Material Design, and more. Together, we will build highly capable, beautiful applications that will delight our users by adopting modern development practices and architectures like MVVM and MVI. Responsibilities
  • Drive the development and launch of multiple Android apps, balancing unique features with shared functionality for diverse user needs
  • Collaborate closely with product management, design, and engineering teams to define and translate requirements into efficient solutions
  • Ensure robust privacy and security measures throughout development, aligning with Flow's commitment to user trust 
  • Support team growth through recruitment, providing technical guidance and mentorship to foster a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the team
  • Lead architectural and systems-level decisions, designing scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure to support long-term application growth
  • Stay updated on Android development trends and integrate new technologies to enhance app performance and user satisfaction
  • Advocate for and ensure the highest quality in our applications through best testing practices, including unit, integration, and UI tests
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders to provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and solutions, and directly engage with users and stakeholders to inform continuous application improvement
Ideal Background
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Android development, with a strong portfolio of applications (OpenSource, Google Play, Hobby projects, etc)
  • Proficiency in Kotlin and a thorough understanding of Android platform frameworks
  • Knowledge of Android architectural patterns (MVC, MVVM, MVI) and design principles for mobile applications
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers, engineers, and product managers, in distributed collaborative environments
  • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and convey technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Excellent communication skills with experience providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of pushing the boundaries of application development
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, web technologies, UI/UX standards, and agile development methodologies
  • Experience with greenfield application development is highly preferred
