Supervises: Intake Coordinator, CNAs, PCW and other Respite Care staff

Position Summary: The Director of Respite is responsible for the providing day to day leadership, quality care delivery and training, coaching and supervision of all respite staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide administrative leadership in all aspects of the respite center.
  2. Orients new staff and ensures any necessary ongoing training.
  3. Writes and reviews Respite client care plans for appropriate care based on individual nursing needs and administer professional nursing services as needed and/or as ordered by the physicians.
  4. Consults with the client's physician, caregiver and case managers concerning treatment or when there is a change in client's conditions.
  5. Performs administrative duties of Respite that include completing and reviewing all medical forms, reports, evaluations, MARS, and charting.
  6. Makes sure all Respite client charts and medical information is updated and done correctly following HIPAA guidelines.
  7. Assures that the Respite staff, clients and visitors follow procedures established by the organization at all times, relative to nursing and medical needs and quality standards
  8. Assists with an effective orientation for new employees and continuing education for current Respite staff
  9. Set up and label medications for Respite clients
  10. Work with Adult Day Services to update policies and procedures for Respite Care
  11. Contacts family/caregiver to refill prescribed medication, current medication list, supplies and equipment as needed
  12. Assists with Respite client care as needed
  13. Attends and participates in supervisor approved in-services


Follows all policies and procedures of St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care

Qualifications

Education/Training:

Current CPR certification. Five years of experience preferred. At least two years working with a wide spectrum of people living with disability.

Skills/Abilities:

Ability to work independently and make sound judgments. Exceptional organization and communication skills (oral and written). Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.

Excellent people skills. Ability to use Microsoft word and Excel.
