A PRN Registered Nurse (RN) in the Interventional Cardiology department at Weston Hospital provides intra-operative care to patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Cath and Electrophysiology Labs. RNs care for patients during structural heart procedures, including valve repair and transcatheter valve replacement (TAVR). RNs use their strong assessment and critical thinking skills to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide the best outcomes for each patient. The hours of this per diem position are primarily 6am-4:30pm, with no on-call requirements. A minimum of 48 hours per six-week schedule is required. The ideal future caregiver is someone who: Has RN experience in a Cardiac Cath or Electrophysiology Lab. Has preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative experience. Thrives in a team environment. Assesses patient/family educational readiness and barriers. Develops plan based on educational assessment. Documents educational assessment, plan, intervention and outcome. Utilizes critical thinking based on data; rounds on patients with physician and other members of the healthcare team as appropriate when making decision. Collaborates in the assignment of patients to staff based on acuity and competency of staff. Functions as charge nurse on unit. Participates in coordination/delivery of approved Facility events. Utilizes the nursing process: patient advocacy, maintenance of aseptic technique, medication administration, documentation of treatments and care, management of equipment, patient safety and monitoring of vital signs. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Certifications: Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN). Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification must be presented upon hire. If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire. (ONS) Chemo/Bio course complete within 2 years of employment if employed on units inpatient and/or outpatient where chemo is administered. If in an Adult/Combined EDs, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire.
