K-12 Job Summary: The purpose of the school Social Worker is to work with students and their families to promote a healthy home and school environment for the student.
Report To: Building Administrator
Essential Functions:
- Functional daily attendance
- Working with students for individual, group and academic counseling
- Assisting Guidance Counselors throughout the district
- Brokering with outside agencies
- Crisis Intervention
- Services to parents and families (case management; social, emotional, and economic help)
- Advocate for students
- In-service training for staff (i.e., at-risk students, homeless, suicide prevention)
- Connections with mental health agencies
- Positive Behavior Intervention Strategy committee member
- Other reponsibilities assigned by administration
Requires prolonged standing, or moving around classrooms and schools, occasional stooping, bending and reaching, sometime noisy and crowded environments
Qualifications:
- Licensed by the Mississippi Board of Examiners or Mississippi Department of Education. Master's Degree is preferred. Must have current MDE 436, LPC, LMSW, or LCSW licensure.
- Must have professional experience outside of degree requirments.
