Job Title: Molecular Technician

Location: Sterling, Virginia

Reporting to: Laboratory Supervisor

About the Lab:

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Daily Lab Operations: Work under the guidance of the Lab Supervisor to assist in the daily maintenance and performance of the CLIA laboratory. This includes maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory.
  • Support Testing Personnel: Provide necessary support to testing personnel as needed. This includes assisting with proficiency testing, competency testing, and training.
  • Assist in Documentation Development: Assist the Lab Supervisor in developing CLIA documentation for validation and verification of test systems.
  • Data Assessment: Assist the Lab Supervisor in assessing laboratory data, including QC data, validation/verification data, and proficiency testing.
  • Quality Systems Management: Actively participate in the Quality Systems Management Program to ensure the highest testing and safety standards are maintained.
  • Laboratory Safety: Actively participate in the Laboratory Safety Programs to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all established standards, statutes, and regulations for all accreditations, permits, and licensure (CLIA/CAP/COLA/ISO).
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze, evaluate, develop, and implement plans regarding improvement of laboratory services.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • BS in Biology or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Experience in a molecular biology laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with CLIA laboratory operations and regulations.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and under supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a high-complexity clinical CLIA/CAP
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MLS (ASCP) or equivalent
  • Experience with grant writing and other technical writing
  • Experience with CO2 Incubator
Salary and Schedule:
  • Salary Commensurate with education and experience
  • 1st shift M-F
