Laboratory Technician

The Laboratory Technician will play a vital role in sample preparation and inventory management within an R&D environment.
This position involves physical tasks such as sample grinding using various mill types, washing large and small lab equipment, and managing sample inventory in a highly regulated setting.
Additionally, the role includes information systems-related duties to ensure compliant sample chain of custody and inventory management. Under the general direction of the Sample Management Lab Supervisor, the technician will support laboratory operations aimed at developing new agricultural products and exploring new uses for existing products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all aspects of sample preparation, including:
- Utilizing knowledge of sample preparation techniques, such as milling and lyophilizing.
- Assisting in the receipt and transfer of samples submitted for preparation and analysis.
- Operating sample preparation equipment, identifying any malfunctioning equipment, and communicating maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Familiarize with and adhere to departmental documents related to sample preparation, including:
- SOP ECL-21: Sample Handling, Identification, Preparation, Storage, and Tracking from Residue and Transgenic Crop Studies.
- Equipment manuals and operational and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirements during sample processing.
- Maintain timely and accurate records of sample preparation and tracking.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and orderly on a daily basis.
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in sample preparation or related functions.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
- Experience using an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) or similar documentation systems.
- Relevant laboratory certifications (if applicable).
