To plan, implement and evaluate the provision of high-quality medical care, with appropriate resource management, to children and adolescents in the respective clinical area

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University Department of Pediatrics are seeking a board-certified, academic pediatric endocrinologist to join our large and rapidly growing endocrinology group. Although a successful candidate will be called on to perform a combination of administrative, academic, and clinical activities, the exact proportions of these duties will depend on the applicant's interests, experience, and expertise.

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology is composed of 21 pediatric endocrinologists, 2 psychologist, 16 certified diabetes educators, 3 social workers, and a team of 32 administrative and nursing support personnel. Six pediatric endocrinology fellows participate in both clinical and academic activities. Emory's Department of Pediatrics in ranked 1st in the country for NIH funding. Laboratory space is available in the Department and access to an extensive array of Core Laboratory services is available. And a staff group of clinical research support members supporting investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored trials.

Our group offers comprehensive tertiary care to children with diabetes and endocrine diseases. We conduct over 26,000 inpatient and outpatient visits per year at 9 sites. We offer specialized clinics for children with Turner Syndrome, metabolic bone disease, transgender identity, hyperlipidemia, brain tumor, thyroid cancer, cancer survivorship, cystic fibrosis-related diabetes, and post-transplant diabetes. The Center for Advanced Pediatrics (CAP) is a 260,000 sq. ft., 8-story tower that houses the endocrine and diabetes clinics and a Pediatric Research Center. Since August, 2018, it has been the hub of the Division's clinical, clinical research, and teaching activities. Construction is underway for a new 440+ bed hospital adjacent to the CAP. Experience

  • No minimum Experience Required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in respective clinical area.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.
  • Graduate of an accredited, post-graduate residency program in Pediatrics.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Endocrinology.
Certification Summary
  • Board Certified/ Board Eligible in Pediatric Endocrinology.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
  • BLS or PALS certification required.
  • Current DEA registration.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member.
  • Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.
  • Demonstrates the following skills in accomplishing job duties and responsibilities: personal organization and time management, human relations and teamwork, personal adaptability, personal motivation, and listening.
Job Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children's policies and procedures.
  • Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
  • Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
  • Educate and assist trainees with medical decision making.
  • Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
  • Completes necessary documentation and ensures timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
  • Actively responds to patient and clinical staff questions and requests.
  • Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
  • Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete, and maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required.
