The Senior Tax Associate position will be responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports under supervision of the Tax Manager. This includes but is not limited to income tax returns, sales tax returns, excise tax returns, and property tax reports for each of the company's terminals and corporate headquarters. The Tax Senior Associate will also prepare and maintain supporting workpapers for these compliance requirements. The Tax Senior Associate will also assist in generating monthly reconciliation procedures to support all tax-related responsibilities for all IMTT locations.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities are for assistance in preparation of the federal and state income tax compliance/tax returns and ASC740 (FAS 109) calculations/supporting workpapers.
  • Preparation of excise tax returns, property tax reports, sales and use tax returns, and payroll tax matters.
  • Quarterly projections of taxable income and payment of estimated tax
  • Preparation of federal income tax returns (supporting workpapers) for REIT & Taxable REIT Subsidiary (TRS)
  • Preparation of state income tax returns (supporting workpapers)
  • Prepare or assist in review of sales and use tax returns for all jurisdictions
  • Prepare quarterly and annual excise tax returns
  • Maintain quarterly estimates of earnings and profits
  • Assist with reconciliation and review of fixed asset records maintained by the company to ensure the proper tax classifications for tax, including E&P depreciation
  • Assist in the implementation of tax software and fixed asset software
  • Communicates with tax authorities to resolve any notices (income tax/sales tax/excise tax)
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Tax
  • CPA or CPA eligible preferred
Skills and Abilities
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines, efficiently and accurately

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines which requires flexibility in work schedule.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Excel required

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work effectively with all organizational levels
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.

Hours of Work
  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
