POSITION SUMMARY

The NAACP seeks a dynamic, and highly-organized, effective, and articulate systems thinker to serve as Program Manager. This role embraces the 3Cs (coordination, cooperation, and collaboration) and is primarily responsible for leading a portfolio of strategic projects across the Campaigns Department, including executing project plans, status reports, and deliverables.

The Campaigns Program Manager will report directly to the National Campaigns Director and work with national, state, and local leadership and national staff to design, build, and execute advocacy and electoral campaigns to advance civil rights through political/policy outcomes. This position is responsible for supporting the National Campaigns Director in overseeing, strategizing, and connecting the NAACP priority advocacy and electoral campaigns at the local, state, and national level.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Supports the National Campaigns Director with special project deadlines and inter-departmental projects;
  • Establish and maintain processes for managing campaigns, initiatives, and projects;
  • Manages high-level administrative workflow of the National Campaigns Director;
  • Assist with developing campaign goals, plans, strategies, and tactics to achieve outcomes on specific issue areas in conjunction with National Campaigns Director and the Campaigns Department staff;
  • Engage in legislative campaigns, electoral campaigns, democracy campaigns, and/or advocacy campaigns;
  • Work in coordination with key internal and external stakeholders, state conference and local unit/branch staff, and national staff;
  • Support the National Campaigns Director in the management of vendor/partners, research management, and campaigns deliverables;
  • Provide thought partnership for the National Campaigns Director and Campaigns Department;
  • Assist in the management of NAACP strategic partnerships that focus on civic engagement and advocacy campaigns;
  • Serve as the liaison to teams and stakeholders, providing representation where appropriate;
  • Leverage appropriate tools to ensure efficiencies and quality of work;
  • Deliver high quality, timely work product;
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by leadership;
  • Help facilitate on-the-ground meetings, planning, and campaign events in priority/targeted states/cities as needed;
  • Exercise independent judgment to solve problems and determine creative solutions;
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as designated by the Campaigns Department;
QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for this position will possess many, if not all, of the following professional qualifications, competencies and personal qualities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant or equivalent experience preferred;
  • Minimum of three to five years experience in program/project management or related field; experience in non-profit, policy, advocacy, or other civil rights organizations preferred;
  • Demonstrated experience leading small- and large-scale projects;
  • Experience in a fast-paced, highly dynamic, evolving organization and work environment in a national, academic or nonprofit organization program management position;
  • Experience developing and implementing candidate, issue, and/or legislative campaigns;
  • Experience working collaboratively with community groups and allied organizations;
  • Some expertise/experience working with polling instruments and data and developing appropriate targeting strategies, both for public and member polling;
  • Knowledge and experience in user research, targeting, direct mail, and opposition research;
  • Effective communication skills, including exceptional written and verbal skills, excellent people skills, and strong relationship-building skills with an ability to collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong execution, analytical and organizational skills and demonstrated experience in prioritizing and executing multiple priorities, programs, and projects seamlessly with excellent attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated proactive problem-solving skills with strong decision-making capability;
  • Work effectively both independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative, and collegial environment; and
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and related Project Management Software.
