Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Office of Admissions provides information and administrative support to prospective students and implements recruitment, marketing, and yield strategies to attract and enroll new freshmen and transfer students; to enhance the visibility of VSU within the high school community, community colleges in Virginia and outside of Virginia; and the university's overall goal of increasing enrollment. The Admissions Counselor will serve in Managing the Office of Admissions social media channels and platforms. Create content, images, and videos to attract and recruit prospective students. Assist students and parents with undergraduate admission application requirements. Recruit prospective students by developing relationships within assigned territory. Respond to inquiries and questions to ensure applicants submit required admission documentation. Review of data within CRM, Slate, and Banner to edit reports and updating the systems with correct information.

Minimum Qualifications

The below Minimum requirements must be demonstrated in the applicant's resume and/or application in order to fulfill the needs of the position:

Excellent communication skills and expert at presenting to large audience.

Ability to maintain excellent records in a database.

Ability to travel and recruit.

Must be computer literate, especially in the use of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).

Possess skill and knowledge of Slate, Banner, and Recruit.

Excellent organization skills and ability to set priorities.

Ability to deal effectively with others, working in a collaborative environment.

Independent Worker, decisive, proactive, enthusiastic, and strong interpersonal skills.

Additional Considerations:

Preferred Bachelor's degree in communications, business, marketing or public relations.

Experience working with students in a college or university setting.

Ability to travel out of state frequently.

Must be able to work occasionally after hours and/or weekends.

Experience overseeing social media channels and platforms.

Tracking performance via analytic tools.

Oversee social media campaigns.
