Primary responsibility for assessing, designing, developing and evaluating leadership development programs, training programs, and assigned special training projects including, but no limited to:
a)Emerging Leader Development, other managerial training and development programs
b)Support services and programs

Consults to all levels of work groups to improve performance and effectiveness, including the design and execution of department performance and team interventions. Provides collaborative support to Education in CEOD.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
2. DiSC preferred or ability to acquire expertise within six (6) months of hire.

1. Masters in Leadership Development, Training and/or Organization Development or other relevant discipline.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be construed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Consult with management to design, facilitate and implement organizational strategies to achieve operational improvements, e.g., productivity, work redesign, team building, and cultural change.
2. Gather evaluative data throughout the organization by employing a variety of appropriate OD methodologies, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
3. Coordinate OD and training projects with consultants to ensure an integrated delivery of services.
4. Provide oversight to the design and execution of programming such as, but not limited to: Emerging Leader Development, Leadership Development, Open Enrollment Staff Development, Support Services and Programs.
5. Follow the ADDIE model to design and manage training programs from conception through evaluation by collaborating and guiding different levels of staff in developing and designing course content.
6. Oversee the logistics and delivery of training programs.
7. Develop courses that are specific to the climate, culture, and terminology of West Virginia University Hospitals.
8. Partner with subject matter experts to design customized, relevant training programs for the organization.
9. Evaluate training programs annually to ensure that programs continue to be relevant and reflect leading-edge methods and practices.
10. Design, implement, and evaluate OD interventions to improve work methods, job design, and performance alignment with the organization initiatives and culture.
11. Demonstrate regard for the dignity, respect and safety of all patient, significant others, visitors, and hospital personnel as defined in the philosophy of the organization.
12. Participate in meeting the goals and objectives of the organization and ensures the department contributes to the attainment of the Hospital's goals and objectives.
13. Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure the Hospital is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
14. Member of the management team in CEOD and engages in strategic and performance improvement planning and responsible for the execution of that plan that impacts T/D and OD.
15. System CEOD coordination of organizational development program, provide consulting and design services to the change and culture management initiatives, and lead the efforts that design leadership development programs.
16. Guide planning and execution and provide oversight to New Employee orientation and onboarding services for new employees, open enrollment programs, mentoring program, and other organizational programs and services.
17. Consult with management to frame complex, and often unique organizational problems by identifying performance gaps in people and/or processes by designing, facilitating and implementing organizational strategies to achieve operational improvements.
18. Determine strategic direction of program and services to ensure alignment with organizational needs and goals.
19. Provide consultative services to executive, managerial and supervisory staff on a wide array of organization issues, e.g. productivity, work redesign, team building, mission statement development, and cultural changes.
20. Design original course content including building curriculum, instructor materials, and relevant tools for using course content that is specific to the climate, culture, and terminology of West Virginia University Hospitals.
21. Counsel and advise employees in career development decisions, acquiring skills, and personal goal setting through consultation with organization leadership.
22. Lead consultant for designing and implementing the customized customer service course to system hospitals. Provide resources and support for additional topics (i.e., staff professional development, leadership development and employee engagement.)
23. Lead the design, development, implementation and evaluation of organization-wide initiatives such as employee engagement aligned to the organization's mission, priorities, and performance improvement plan to improve retention.
24. Develop and implement unit specific staff educational activities within the scope of nursing practice.
25. Collaborate with departmental leadership and support staff using indicators, such as, regulatory agencies, new policy development, new technology, patient case study and quality assurance monitors, to prioritize educational needs.
26. Assist the department leadership in the assessment of new departmental employee learning needs and development of employee orientation and education plan to ensure consistency in implementation validation and documentation methodologies.
27. Provide input and assist manager/director in annual review of unit Scope of Service, and performance improvement initiatives in conjunction with other departmental work teams.
28. Facilitate/assist the nursing unit's education plan for nursing orientation, staff development, continuing education, competency validation, patient education and academic experiences.
29. Define and coordinate orientation needs for all new employees. Individualize orientation, with preceptor, evaluate orientees' progress, and provide ongoing constructive feedback to both orientee, their preceptor and manager.
30. Assist departmental or unit teams in the development of annual competency analysis system requirements and criteria to assure knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary to fulfill role expectations in the institution.
31. Facilitate development of strong leadership behavior in unit staff including: a) orientation of charge nurse on unit; b) development of unit preceptors; c) delegation skills; and d) effective interpersonal communication skills.
32. Support an environment for innovation, creativity and empowerment with patient care delivery based on current nursing literature and research.
33. Initiate and/or participate in studies and research activities related to staff development, patient, and health care.
34. Serve as a change agent in effecting appropriate changes within the health care delivery system as it relates to evidence based practice.
35. Demonstrate regard for the dignity, respect and safety of all patients, significant others, visitors, and hospital personnel as defined in the philosophy of the organization.
36. Display a caring and courteous attitude and represent the hospital in a positive manner to all persons noted above.
37. Participate in meeting the Goals and Objectives of Nursing Service Division and ensures the department contributes to the attainment of the Hospital's Goals and Objectives.
38. Serve as a role model and promote within the staff effective communication and conflict resolution skills, reflecting quality service attitudes and keeping consumer satisfaction in mind.
39. Contribute positively to the teamwork of all departments by assisting other staff, contributing ideas and helping to resolve problems.
40. Exhibit strength to participate in, direct and maintain quality patient care in a high stress environment.
41. Participate in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.
42. Complete 45- and 90-day performance reviews with manager input as appropriate
43. Assist with hospital recruitment and retention initiatives.
