Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Vice President, the Associate Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of mentoring programs operations for The Y in Central Maryland. This position provides cause-driven leadership in program development (ensure high quality service delivery, child safety, and positive impacts on youth), mentoring match support (constructive and satisfying relationships between children and mentors), community and corporate engagement (identify, secure and cultivate program/corporate partners), leading and developing associates and volunteers, fiscal management, financial development, facility and equipment stewardship, and community relations. Responsible for caseload and supervision of assigned Y Associates. The Associate Executive Director demonstrates a commitment to the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all of the following key result areas:

Essential Functions:
  • Develop short and long term plans that support mentoring program area and overall association goals and ensure the growth, quality, and service delivery mentoring programs.
  • Support and serve as a leader on the Youth Development Team, as needed.
  • Ensure program quality and a consistent service delivery in both site and community based mentoring program areas:
    • Recruitment and retention strategies of mentors and mentees.
    • Comprehensive reports, data, and mentor assessments to ensure program follow through and strategic decision making.
    • Creation and management of site based program budget with fidelity.
    • Develop written agreements with partners to memorialize roles, responsibilities, and processes for site based programs.
    • Establish and monitor goals for match length and customer satisfaction. Appraises the effects of the team goals on positive youth development.
    • Supports risk management and compliance expectations to meet best practices, Y standards and BBBSA regulations.
  • Ensure that all assigned associates receive training/development to support program needs. Ensures associates can assess individual training needs, information and support for each match participant to assure a positive youth development experience for the child, and successful and satisfying experience for the mentor.
  • Manages associates interaction of scheduled in-person, telephone and electronic contact, ascertaining that the elements of program delivery, child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and mentor satisfaction are fulfilled and that potential problems and barriers are identified and addressed as early as possible.
  • Manages and coordinates program planning and implementation with school and corporate partners.
  • Oversees team of site-based program specialists who coordinate and conduct volunteer recruitment and orientation with business partners; manages school-based MOU's and corporation grant applications and reports.
  • Establish and monitor goals for match length and customer satisfaction utilizing the program-specific surveys (Child/Youth Outcome Survey) to assess match impact on youth development.
  • Plans and implements events to support ongoing mentor engagement through individualized recognition, annual events, and re-engagement strategies.
  • Prepare reports and provide analytical data as needed
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and association required events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
