Job Summary

The Director of Respiratory Therapy will direct and supervise the respiratory therapy department and will include the following duties but are not limited to:

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise respiratory employees, their schedules, and evaluations
  • Ensure all respiratory department policies and procedures are strictly followed
  • Check Assessment documentation
  • Order all respiratory supplies, stock respiratory supplies and keep within budget
  • Takes call for all respiratory staffing issues every day
  • Responsible for the condition and operation of all therapy equipment
  • Writes respiratory protocols, policies and procedures
  • Evaluate admissions packets for accuracy and assist social service director in getting respiratory information on new admissions and residents in hospitals
  • Keep up with resident pulmonary consults
  • Setting up care plans for respiratory residents
  • Any other duties that may come up involving respiratory evaluations
Position Qualifications
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
  • Good physical and mental health
  • Manual dexterity for manipulation of instruments and equipment
  • Physical assessment skills
  • Must work with others in a positive manner
  • Knowledge of current standards of respiratory practice and of basic safety rules
