Position Title: Refrigeration Operator

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Exempt or Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt

Shift: 2nd Shift

Job Summary: Responsible for safe operation and preventive maintenance of all the plant Ammonia Refrigeration, in a timely manner. Knowledge of Boiler Controls and Operations are preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities If Any: No

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Candidate should have strong electrical and ammonia refrigeration knowledge and experience in a commercial environment.
  • Skills in the installation, repair, and maintenance of refrigeration system equipment and components, locating and diagnosing trouble in the refrigeration system or equipment.
  • Must be able to maintain and repair compressors, refrigeration controls, condensers, etc.
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the refrigeration trade.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and regulations.
  • Must ensure safety in all work done.
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation a must.

Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Refrigeration technical school training preferred.
  • Self-starting
  • Highly motivated
  • Used to work environments that move quickly.
  • Must be able to pass pulmonary breathing test.
  • Minimum One year experience.
  • Must be able to work nights and most weekends.
Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to wear an equipment tools belt weighing up to ten pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. Typical physical demands include frequent work on lifts, ladders, and rooftops and other harder-to-access areas. The employee is occasionally required to walk; lift, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and operating power tools.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Food Safety:
  • Operate and/or Repair Machinery in a manner that upholds USDA Food Safety Regulations. This includes any/all equipment associated with direct effect to HACCP CCPs.
