The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an expert clinician who may practice in a specialty area while functioning as a resource to other staff and departments. The CNS demonstrates an expertise in education, mentoring, consulting, research, evidence based-practice, management, and systems improvement. The CNS influences outcomes by providing expert consultation to all care providers and by implementing improvements in health care delivery systems.

Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC)
- Ph.D. from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Coursework/Training Currently enrolled in a Master's, DNP, or Ph.D. clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC)
- Coursework/Training Equivalent coursework and experience will be considered (Example: Masters in Nursing or Doctoral degree in Nursing that did not major in the CNS role, such as those that are in Nursing Administration or Nursing Education)
- Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License
- Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
- 3 years registered nursing experience in area of specialty
Preferred Qualifications:
- Upon hire: Current certification as a CNS
- Upon hire: Current certification in area of specialty
- 2 years clinical leadership responsibility
