PURPOSE:

Enable Project HOPE to expand policy and advocacy impact by developing background analysis and outlining strategic opportunities for grant funding to conduct U.S. and global policy and advocacy for global health priorities, including health workers, mental health, and overall investments in global health

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
  • Provide a landscape of organizations (public foundations, family foundations, private donors, industry, etc.) making grants for policy and advocacy in Project HOPE areas of interest.
  • Develop a background analysis of how/where organizations access grant opportunities and the process through which organizations understand how to apply for and win policy and advocacy grants in Project HOPE areas of interest (e.g., advertised/non-advertised, past experience/partnerships, personal connections, funding level (on average), duration, expected deliverables, etc.).
  • Develop a strategy for Project HOPE to pursue increased resources for policy and advocacy activities.
DELIVERABLES:
  • Draft and final stakeholder landscape and avenues for access document, including opportunities and challenges (50%).
  • Draft and final strategy for search and application, including criteria for what constitutes a successful grant (i.e., where is the bang for our buck in terms of investment in time) (50%).
PAYMENT TERMS BASED ON MILESTONES / COMPLETED OBJECTIVES:
  • First half after provision of final stakeholder landscape and avenues for access document.
  • Second half after provision of final strategy.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject area (public health, global health, public health, development, finance, humanities).
  • Experience level: 7-10 years of experience, preferably prior foundation or development/fundraising professional background.
  • Skill requirement/s: writing, critical thinking, analysis, public health/global health.
  • Specific experience assisting similar organizations with obtaining grants.
