Chemical Mixer Job Description We have openings for 5 Plant Operators on the 2nd and 3rd shifts. The 2nd Shift operates from 2pm to 12:30am, Monday through Thursday, with Fridays off. The 3rd Shift starts Monday evening at 10:00pm and ends Friday morning at 8:30am. Shifts are 10.5 hours long, including a ½ hour unpaid lunch. This is a direct placement position with a starting pay rate of $20 per hour. As a Chemical Mixer, you will: • Meet with the 2nd shift foreman to discuss daily tasks. • Train in various plant areas on different production procedures. • Follow work instructions to mix pigments for paint. • Wear a respirator during mixing operations. • Lift bags weighing 50-60 lbs to add to the blender. • Follow batch tickets with specific weights and procedures. • Learn to run a paint kettle, pigment reactor, and grinding machine. • Load bulk weigh stations. • Use a computer to read SOPs and mixing procedures. • Perform basic math calculations for batch weights. Hard Skills Ability to lift 60 lbs Wear a respirator Chemical mixing Work Site This is a fully on-site position in Twinsburg, Ohio. Work Environment DayGlo, founded in the 1940s as the inventor of fluorescent color, is a global manufacturer of paints, pigments, dispersions, and dyes. They are part of RPM Inc. and produce paints like Rustoleum and DAP for the construction industry. The plant has only 15 employees, with 4 operators and a working foreman on the 2nd shift. The work environment is laid back, without constant supervision. The mixing of pigments creates a dusty environment, with walls and the entire building covered in pink/orange paint/dust. Respirators are worn during mixing operations. The environment is somewhat temperature-controlled but can be hot in the summer and chilly in the winter. Uniforms are provided to protect clothes from dust/paint. The plant has industrial machines like kettles and mixers, but it is not very loud.
