Pharmacy Technician

Hours: Non-exempt / Hourly | 40 hours per week

Location | Department: LifeCircles PACE | Holland

Overview:

The Pharmacy Technician provides daily pharmaceutical supportive services for the LifeCircles PACE clinic. The Pharmacy Technician will work closely with the Clinic Pharmacist, other members of the clinical team, the contracted PACE pharmacy, and other contracted partners (i.e., facilities) to assist in meeting pharmacy-related participant needs. The Pharmacy Technician may work independently in the community as well as on-site at the PACE facility.

What you'll do:
  • Assures efficient, timely and accurate delivery and distribution of medications and medication orders
  • Identifies and communicates issues with medication compliance to the pharmacist and/or clinical team in a timely fashion
  • Assists Clinical Pharmacist with oversight of medication compliance
  • Performs home visits to assess and assist with medication compliance
  • Coordinates medication changes during transitions of care
  • Performs medication reconciliations during transitions of care
  • Communicate regularly with participants, care partners, and the PACE contracted pharmacy to address participant medication refill needs and answer questions that are within the technician scope of practice
  • Maintains accurate inventory of stock medication, maintain proper storage/security conditions for medications, and maintain refrigerator temperature logs.
  • Assist in preparing alternate medication packaging as directed by the pharmacist (i.e., personal medication dispensers, medication wheels, plastic medication boxes)
  • Ensures accurate charting and data-entry into electronic medical record
What it takes:
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a health-related area.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with the elderly.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license with the State of Michigan
  • Ability to visually identify commonly prescribed medications
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted state of Michigan driver's license.
  • Previous experience of at least 2 years preferred
  • PTCB certification preferred
  • Experience with multiple forms of medication packaging preferred
  • Must have great attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
  • Must be technologically adept and proficient in electronic medical records.
