Basic Purpose of the Job:
Under general direction, the Network Analyst is responsible for the installation/maintenance of operating systems and administration of the associated subsystems including networks, applications, databases, and telecommunications.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide network-level support of operating systems, hardware and software tools including installation, configuration, maintenance and support of these systems.
  • Perform systems security administration functions, including creating customer profiles and accounts, assist in systems backups and recovery procedures.
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of hardware for local area (LAN) and wide area (WAN) networks.
  • Assist with/troubleshoot enterprise software (Active Directory, e-mail, data backup, anti-virus, anti-spyware, network, accounts) as necessary.
  • Analyze existing systems/networks and redefine them to take into account changes in requirements or equipment configurations.
  • Record and maintain hardware and software inventories, site and/or server licensing, and user access and security. Write and maintain system documentation. Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.
  • Install and/or coordinate premise wiring for any necessary computer equipment to include termination and testing.
  • Assist City departments in determining hardware and software needs and the purchase of computer equipment and software. Assist departments in setup and implementation of hardware and software applications.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network. Serve as a resource for other technical staff to aid in installation or configuration of systems.
  • Provide End-User support solving a wide variety of technical issues and prioritizing needs appropriately. Define, recommend and train End-Users in best security practices and standard application usage.
  • Serve as a resource for other technical staff to aid in installation or configuration of systems.
  • Provide Shared Service Support solving a wide variety of technical issues and making recommendations for efficient support of shared services.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college.
  • Three (3) years of computer system and networking experience preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Network architecture and design fundamentals, principles of and current trends in information technology design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques, general programming and compilation techniques, wired and wireless network design and implementation, firewall architecture and security policy administration, web architecture, protocols and languages, network backup and recovery techniques, software and hardware installation, operating System installation and troubleshooting, network administration and optimization.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and security permissions in a Windows Server environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Best Practice End User Security including testing and training
  • Expert knowledge with mainstream desktop applications, including Microsoft Office, including support and training.
  • Excellent public relations skills and strong customer service skills with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Provide after hours installation/maintenance as needed and customer support as part of an On-Call rotation schedule.
Licensures & Certificates (must be active and current.):
  • Current Colorado driver's license with acceptable record.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 25 pounds frequently and forty pounds occasionally; frequent lifting, carrying, walking and standing, hand/eye coordination for operation of personal computer; vision for reading and preparing written reports and documents; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with employees and citizens. Occasional driving and walking to off-site jobs in inclement weather. Works primarily in clean, comfortable environment.

Dental Insurance: Coverage is offered through UMR to provide dental and orthodontic care. In addition, our dental plan has no network which allows you to see any dentist you prefer.
