GENERAL FUNCTION

The Sr. Manager Æ?? EH&S designs, implements and continuously improves environmental, health and safety programs, leads the facilities in injury and illness prevention, waste minimization opportunities and ensures operations are in compliance with Federal, State and local EHS regulations. Partner with corporate and other Essilor Luxottica EHS personnel in North America to leverage global safety and environmental best practices. The Sr. Manager works to create a culture where employees at all levels understand the importance of these processes and are committed to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. Supports the Columbus campus (RxO Lockbourne lab, RxO Bell lab, Columbus DCs and ROC).

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Æ? Develop and implement EHS programs and processes to drive EHS continuous improvement and injury prevention and ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal EHS regulations including documentation, reporting, training & safety committees across all the businesses at the Columbus Campus

Æ? Identify/maintain systems & processes for continuous improvement in EHS performance and compliance activities. Provides technical support/direction for EHS compliance & incident/accident prevention programs/practices to site leadership.

Æ? Monitor effectiveness of all EH&S policies, practices, and processes to determine efficiency and effectiveness. Recommend improvements to achieve and deliver improved results.

Æ? Interface with EHS regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory agencies. Partners with North American EHS regional leaders, Legal Department and business leaders for resolution on any potential compliance issues.

Æ? Maintains recordkeeping and submits reports for OSHA, BLS, environmental regulatory requirements (Tier II, TRI, RCRA, etc.) and any other official agency compliance requirements. Maintains files and documentation related to EHS regulatory & compliance matters.

Æ? Facilitate organization and leadership development efforts to address root causes of EH&S related issues. Coach Managers and employees at all levels on a variety of environment health and safety topics.

Æ? Maintain EHS KPI metrics based on global and regional requirements to provide corporate and leadership with accurate reporting and metrics that support overall business initiatives.

Æ? Manage activities for WorkerÆ??s Compensation claims, while identifying root causes and prevent recurrence.

Æ? Work with internal business partners regarding new product, equipment and process introductions, various EHS initiatives as well as programs and practices.

Æ? Establishes and leads safety culture through identifying training needs (e.g., analyze trends/compliance), communicating goals and standards, working with managers to educate associates, delivering training or evaluating training programs, and rewarding successes

Æ? Tracks envrionmental inspections, audit findings and corrective actions in Gensuite

Æ? Drives Sustainability & waste minimization initiatives

Æ? Expert knowledge of Federal & Ohio state/local requirements related to air quality, wastewater treatment and hazardous waste management (RCRA), etc.

Æ? Experience implementing & maintaining ISO 14001 & ISO45001 Management Systems

Æ? Experience working in industries that manage hazardous chemicals and chemical inventories

Æ? Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Æ? Bachelor in safety, environmental or a related field

Æ? 8 years of increasing responsibilities in safety and environmental programs in manufacturing organizations

Æ? 5 years in management of EHS Programs including training

Æ? Experience leading change in a large manufacturing environment and managing direct reports

Æ? Demonstrated ability to influence including comfort interfacing with employees and leaders at all levels

Æ? Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills and presentation skills

Æ? Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Æ? Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization

Æ? Handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATONS:

Æ? Certified Safety Professional or other EHS certifications
