SRE / Application & Platform Owner

Motivation
  • This role will be a Site Reliability Engineer role working as an Agile team member with a primary responsibility of improving the resiliency and reliability of in-house systems, and externally hosted vendor applications. Platforms include micro-service based applications, installed Windows and Linux software packages, batch data processes, and data pipelines. This role will have end to end accountability of DevOps and Environment Management supporting multiple test phases, deployment and also ownership of the after releasing in production.
Qualifications
  • Key Responsibilities played in the past roles experience should include
    • Manual process automation
    • Orchestration of the deployment of application software and system infrastructure
    • Enterprise application monitoring and alerting
    • Production issue root cause analysis and resolution, remediation
    • Incident management and cross-team collaboration in a large organization
    • Project management and issue tracking
    • Coordination of releases and issue remediation with vendors and internal service providers
  • Experience of working in multiple tool sets & programming languages required for performing DevOps responsibilities
  • Require knowledge of coding and most of the common programming and scripting languages in Linux, Docker and Windows operating systems
  • Must also have knowledge in application frameworks and containerization.
  • Strong understanding of GitLab or Subversion version control and CI/CD implementation processes
  • Proficiency working with production support automation tools
  • Ability to automate production support tactical fixes and update application support runbooks
  • SRE should have experience on creating software and scripts to monitor and improve the reliability of systems, fixing issues and responding to incidents and issues.
  • Need to have knowledge of various automation tools as they are usually responsible for building and integrating software tools to enhance an organizational system's reliability and scalability.
  • Should enjoy quick prototyping, implementing cloud-ready services, building tools to improve end to end application - develop a strong connect with all stakeholders and testing team
  • Provides application software development services or technical support in situations of moderate complexity.
  • Will participate in the full software development life cycle - develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems. Ensure software is updated with latest features.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Working knowledge of logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Kibana/ELK, Moogsoft and AppDynamics.
  • Knowledge around microservices architecture leveraging other event driven messaging techniques using technologies like KAFKA or similar will be a good to have.
  • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with all the other members of the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts that the team has committed to.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software and data engineers, business users, project managers and production services engineers.
  • Knowledge of major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud is a nice to have but not required.
Education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in software development required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus; should have thorough knowledge of the software development cycle
