About the role - Commercial Driver Trainee

The Commercial Driver Trainee position offers the opportunity to advance to become a Commercial Driver. Orica will provide on-the-job training and necessary CDL schooling. You will support bulk product delivery to blast crews and assist with bench operations.

Work schedule

  • Monday thru Friday
  • Home every night
  • Local driving (1-4 hours)
  • Early morning starts (4am - 5am)
  • 10-12 hours per day approx.
  • Overtime may be needed

What you will be doing

  • Contribute to our safety culture by wearing assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), keeping safety guards on equipment in place, using equipment safely, and looking out for the other members on your team
  • Maintain a clean job site and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Assist with maintenance tasks, including lubrication, maintenance, and minor repairs
  • Assist other team members when necessary
  • Operate mobile equipment on site

What you will bring

  • One or more years of experience in a construction position preferred
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used on construction jobs
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Ability to work from elevated heights
  • Mining, quarry, and construction experience a plus

Your qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year related work experience preferred
  • Minimum age 21
  • We will support obtaining a commercial driver's license, Tanker and Hazmat endorsements
