Carbide Welder Trainee

As a Carbide Welder Trainee at Graco Fishing & Rental Tools Inc, you will be responsible for understanding and applying various welding techniques to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials. This role requires a strong foundation in metallurgy, geometry, and welding principles, as well as the ability to work safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate welding machines to weld metal parts according to work orders, blueprint layouts, and verbal instructions.
• Ensure welds meet industry standards and specifications.
• Secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using precision tools and equipment.
• Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
• Remove rough spots from workpieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
• Clean parts to remove contamination before welding.
• Use inspection gauges, such as verniers, scales, micrometers, and pin gages, to evaluate quality and performance.
• Follow Graco Fishing & Rental Tools Inc policies, practices, and procedures while working safely.
• Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
• Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Perform other duties within your capabilities as determined by management.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational school.
• Ability to use basic math skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and tape measure.
• Must be willing to submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a clear driving record.
