Job DescriptionAs a Carbide Welder Trainee at Graco Fishing & Rental Tools Inc, you will be responsible for understanding and applying various welding techniques to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials. This role requires a strong foundation in metallurgy, geometry, and welding principles, as well as the ability to work safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate welding machines to weld metal parts according to work orders, blueprint layouts, and verbal instructions.
- Ensure welds meet industry standards and specifications.
- Secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using precision tools and equipment.
- Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
- Remove rough spots from workpieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
- Clean parts to remove contamination before welding.
- Use inspection gauges, such as verniers, scales, micrometers, and pin gages, to evaluate quality and performance.
- Follow Graco Fishing & Rental Tools Inc policies, practices, and procedures while working safely.
- Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
- Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Perform other duties within your capabilities as determined by management.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational school.
- Ability to use basic math skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and tape measure.
- Must be willing to submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clear driving record.
