Department Overview

The laboratories at Children's Hospitals and Clinics are full-service facilities that offer a complete spectrum of laboratory techniques for the evaluation of pediatric disorders.This laboratory is located at Children's Minnetonka campus and will be responsible for performing blood draws (venipuncture and capillary) on pediatric patients, and also performing various lab testing in disciplines including Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and waived testing. Some training will done at Plymouth Partners in Pediatrics clinic, some will be done at the main lab either in Minneapolis or St. Paul campus and some will be done at Minnetonka campus.

Position Summary

Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, test result reporting and specimen collection. The MLT provides service in one or more sections of the laboratory with a high level of accuracy, precision and timeliness and ensures compliance with departmental and regulatory agency standards. Service is provided to patients of all age groups. Non-technical duties include taking supply inventories, stocking supplies, cleaning and maintaining work area, equipment and instrumentation.

No holidays and no weekends

Qualifications:

*Associates degree in medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.

*Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) board of registry or equivalent professional organization per CLIA standards. Certification must be completed by the first year of employment and kept current according to ASCP standards.

License/Certification/Registration required? Yes

Education:

*Associate's degree or equivalent required (CLIA '88 regulations)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

*Requires an associates or equivalent

*Computer skills

*Detail oriented

*Must be highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional

The posted pay range represents rates for a grouping of multiple jobs within a salary grade. We carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Children’s Minnesota.

All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. Children’s Minnesota requires proof as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), immunity to vaccine preventable infectious diseases, prior to employment.
