DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare and analyze general ledger trial balances and make necessary adjustments for preparation of the annual federal and state partnership income tax returns by the outside CPA firm. The U.S. partnership is corporate owned and has steel processing or machining plants in 14 states.

2. Prepare income tax return forms and schedules to be attached by the outside CPA firm to the annual federal and state partnership income tax returns.

3. Calculate the annual multi-state apportionment factors and percentages.

4. Calculate state income tax adjustments for the partnership’s state income tax returns (currently filing in 27 states/municipalities).

5. Perform detailed review of the partnership’s federal and state income tax returns prepared by the outside CPA firm.

6. Calculate and prepare the annual state partnership withholding forms for the corporate partners and obtain state withholding affidavits where required.

7. Review the partnership income tax return and related tax filings of the partnership’s minority investment in a U.S. partnership.

8. Prepare and coordinate payment of Canadian and U.S. income tax estimates and extensions.

9. Assist the Senior Income Tax Manager with Canadian and Mexican income tax returns and schedules.

10. Respond to tax notices.

11. Research & analyze new federal, state, and local income tax laws and proposed legislation.

12. Assist the Senior Income Tax Manager with the audited financial statement’s annual income tax provision and quarterly tax provision calculations.

13. Assist the Senior Income Tax Manager on projects as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate and document effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with SAP and/or OneNote a plus
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A CPA certification and 3 to 5 years’ experience with corporate and/or partnership federal and multi-state income tax compliance is preferred.
