Job Description

The opportunity

The Tax Accountant is an entry-level position to assist in the preparation of federal, state and miscellaneous tax compliance filings along with supporting the preparation of federal and state tax provisions. Under manager supervision, would include assisting in the preparation of specific tax adjustments in the areas of life insurance tax, investment tax, non-life companies, REITs, premium taxes, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of Quarterly and annual tax provision calculations. Develop support schedules and documentation where required.
  • Learn tax provision software.
  • Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and other tax filings. Develop support schedules and documentation where required
  • Assist with applicable tax software and documentation requirements.
  • Assist with general ledger and tax processing (check requests, etc.) requirements for the applicable entities assigned
  • Develop general Corporate tax knowledge.
  • Develop general understanding of accounting controls

What we are looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Ability to understand financial statements and related reports and spreadsheets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, use of macros, and Word required.
  • Ability to learn tax technical concepts
  • Ability to communicate well across all mediums and with both internal and external relationships.
  • Organizational skills necessary to meet deadlines, prioritize projects, and process several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work well in a changing environment

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location
Boston, Massachusetts

Salary range is expected to be between
$58,875.00 USD - $98,125.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
