Groundworks is seeking a talented Network Specialist to join our tribe in Virginia Beach, VA

The Network Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the IT infrastructure that supports our business operations. This role requires an understanding of network architecture, server management, data storage solutions, and cloud technologies, with a focus on ensuring high availability, security, and performance. The Network Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize infrastructure and align technology initiatives with organizational goals.

The Network Specialist possess not only the technical skills necessary to operate complex systems but also the proactive mindset required to anticipate challenges, seize opportunities, and drive continuous improvement within the organization. This position requires Extreme Ownership, the principle that emphasizes complete accountability in all aspects of infrastructure management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess systems performance and capacity using a variety of monitoring tools. Proactively identify and resolve potential issues to maximize infrastructure uptime.

  • Evaluate and test new technology to ensure compatibility and efficiency with existing systems.

  • Assess the functionality of systems and ensuring efficient deployment of systems and networks.

  • Assist in planning, executing, and managing infrastructure projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget and scopes.

  • Create and update systems and network documentation and diagrams.

  • Provide technical support across the company.

  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends. Recommend new tools and practices that can improve the IT infrastructure efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and/or five years of technology experience.

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Microsoft Technology Associate, etc.

  • Strong understanding of network security concepts, computer systems, and best practices.

  • Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience.

  • Willingness to provide after-hours support and participation to address critical infrastructure issues as they arise.

Requirements

The Network Specialist will be in an office environment with 10% of travel. The hybrid role is in person and at remote sites.
