Work Environment: The Sales Assistant will work remotely (3) days / approximately 24 hours per week. There is required on-site work in New York City, attending site visits, BlackHouse’s event productions, and local networking events. The Sales Assistant will know in advance when it is required to attend events outside of the standard remote 3 day work week.

BLACKHOUSE is a black and women owned event production agency founded in 2016 by two college besties who share a passion for curating experiences. Our award winning experiential agency specializes in brand activations, press and influencer events, B2B conferences, corporate events, award shows, and non-profit galas. We operate our boutique agency with a small full-time team in NYC and work nationwide with our extensive Tribe of event professionals who work on contracts thoughtfully matched to each event based on their experience and location. We bridge the gap between ideation and execution, providing a concierge-like experience for our clients. We specialize in experiential programming, immersive production design, technical production, and show direction.

Role Summary

As a Sales Assistant, your primary focus is on fostering sales and facilitating the sales process. You will report to the Director of Business Development, and work cross functionally with our production and marketing teams on projects. You will learn all about the event industry, and the inner workings of the production for top tier experiential events with brands like Disney and Prime Video, and corporate events and conferences with Fortune 500 companies like Bloomberg and Unum. You will have hands-on learning as you contribute to both the development of our sales tools but also gain access to networking and assisting in building client relations. As a Sales Assistant, you will be involved in lead generation, prospecting and outreach, sales proposal development, and ideation and research for our sales pitches. You will support the business development team with continued development of templated Google Sheets, Google Docs and Google Slides utilized for sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the sales team with new sales proposals and pitches, initiatives to foster relationships with our existing clients, and expansion of our sales programs and campaigns, to increase sales revenue and grow our customer base.
  • Assist with design of creative presentations for a client proposal using Google Slides and Canva, incorporating high-impact imagery, compelling copy and references from research.
  • Assist with the development of the “Scope of Work” using templated Google Docs.
  • Assist with continued design development of sales collateral such as the agency’s standard “Capabilities Deck” that presents our agency’s services, features case studies and impressive imagery of BlackHouse’s past events, and testimonials and proof points of our success.
  • Write case studies for each event that summarize the project and prove success. Incorporate imagery and testimonials (as available) into the case studies that may be featured on BlackHouse’s website, LinkedIn and The Vendry.
  • Support the sales team to build lead lists and assist with sales pipeline tracking. Assist with lead generation and prospecting new clients through research and outreach.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on email marketing campaigns.
  • Administrative tasks such as note-taking and reviewing AI note-taking documents, updating sales records, and preparing sales reports.
  • Attend in person meetings and site visits to support the sales team, i.e. taking notes and/or capturing photos of venue spaces, etc.
  • As needed, work on-site at BlackHouse’s event productions in the NYC area. Supporting the sales team with capture of the event for case studies, client relations, and other tasks as needed for the success of the client’s event.
  • Attend industry networking events as needed in the NYC area with the sales team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sales Manager and Director of Business Development.

Qualifications:

  • We are looking for applicants who are eager to start their careers in event sales and ready to engage with a collaborative team.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, have the ability to work 24 hours per week remotely, and own a reliable computer with antivirus software that you are able to use for your work.
  • A college degree from an accredited school or will be finishing college in 2024 is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to independently perform comprehensive research and present your findings clearly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong skills designing presentations in Google Slides and experience designing with Canva.
  • Proficient with Google Suite: Drive, Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Calendar.
  • Experience in sales, marketing or communications is highly preferred. Although no sales experience is required, it is helpful if you’ve worked with customers in customer service, retail sales, food/drink service, call center, and/or a similar customer-facing position.
  • Experience managing projects with Asana is a huge plus
