Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons, P.C. is seeking a Medical Scribe to act as an extension to an Orthopaedic Physician's team in clinic. This opportunity is great for an individual seeking to gain experience in a medical office. You will gain administrative experience by assisting with documentation in patient's medical records and clinical experience helping room patients as necessary and assist with examination and treatment as necessary. The position will be located at our West Des Moines office. Hours for this position are Tuesday (8am - 5pm), every other Wednesday (8am - 5pm) and Friday (8am - 1pm).

Do I want this job? You will work alongside an Orthopaedic Physician in clinic entering information quickly and accurately into a patient's electronic health record. Under the direction of the physician you will gain experience in orthopaedic examination and treatment. You will work in a place that expects outstanding experiences; we do this by working hard to assume the best and being curious with all around us. You will be naturally curious, friendly and helpful. You can work the hours for this position, because, ultimately, we are all here to help patients.
Can I do this job? You must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time that may seem unnatural. You have great typing and computer skills. You may assist a patient with transfer from wheelchair to exam table when necessary. You have great communication skills to meet the needs of patients and staff. You can think on your feet. Patient information that gets shared in clinic, stays in clinic.
What does an outstanding medical scribe have in terms of background? A medically related associate degree (example: RN, LPN, CMA, EMT, or Med Student). Knowledge of medical terminology. Certification as a medical scribe by the American College of Clinical Information Managers (ACCIM), preferred. Proficient in typing at minimum 45 WPM into medical record.
