Serve as a liaison between the Director of Counseling and College/Career Readiness and the High School Guidance Department and High School Administration.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in guidance counseling
Valid Texas teacher certificate
Valid Texas counseling certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Experience:
Two years teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Maintain a counseling calendar to include all counseling activities and programs.
  2. Attend all Lead Counselor meetings and dispense information to the High School Guidance Department and the High School Administration.
  3. Monitor policy interpretations and changes from all Administrators, both campus and district, and make sure these are understood and followed by the campus Guidance Department.
  4. Hold meetings as necessary with members of the High School Guidance Department to dispense information and receive feedback, staff students, plan future activities, etc.
  5. Facilitate the organization of classroom guidance, group counseling, parent meeting, etc.
  6. Act as liaison with dual credit course information.
  7. Organize vertical team meetings and disseminate important information with quadrant counselors.
  8. Appoint counselors to manage campus activities, i.e., LISD College Night, etc.
  9. Manage the Guidance campus budget and make decisions regarding expenditures.
  10. With campus administration, prepare registration information for the next school year and schedule the registration process.
  11. Coordinate crisis response when needed.
  12. Report Guidance Department concerns to assigned administrators.
  13. Provide appropriate feedback to assigned administrator regarding department personnel issues; document as required. (Actual writing up of event is done by administration.)
