Primary Purpose:
Facilitate the improvement of student learning and the school's academic achievement. Provide
ongoing assistance and support to home school liaisons, social workers and teachers. Provide
programs, training and materials which help parents develop successful parenting skills.
Equip District Parent Educators with strategies to support district parents with parenting needs.
Provide trainers for serial parenting classes in Love and Logic as well as Family Connections.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Valid Texas Teacher Certificate
Minimum of Master's Degree
Title I Program Experience Preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design, instructional strategies, and technology applications
Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Ability to interpret data
Knowledge of special needs of disadvantaged students
Knowledge of variety of parent involvement programs
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Basic Computer Skills

Experience:
Five years' experience in Education Leadership
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Assure that the school complies with all laws and requirements and will assist the principal, staff, and community in:
  • Providing leadership in planning parental involvement strategies with campus staff.
  • Providing timelines and procedures for campus documentation of all components of NCLB
  • Providing training for Title 1 Contact personnel in NCLB requirements such as development of the Title 1 Comprehensive Needs Assessment, School Parental Involvement Plan, School Parent Compact and Parent Event Calendar;
  • Assisting new Title 1 campuses in Title 1 requirements;
  • Providing resources for families in need;
  • Attending state conferences and meetings regarding Title 1 updates;
    • Conducting a comprehensive needs assessment through analysis of disaggregated student performance data, demographic data, and other pertinent indicators;
    • Developing a school wide Title I plan that focuses monetary and human resources on identified needs;
    • Monitoring consistently the accurate implementation of all aspects of the Title I plan;
    • Conducting both formative and summative evaluation of the effectiveness of the Title I plan;
    • Organizing and conducting parent involvement programs that may include but are not limited to literacy, parenting, parent-child academic interactions, and community activities;
    • Developing and implementing extended day or extended year academic programs;
    • Determining the school's status relating to the requirements of No Child Left Behind through an analysis of disaggregated student performance data.
  1. Collaborate with the principal and other school and district personnel to plan and implement professional training for teachers, aides, administrators, pupil services personnel, parents, and other community audiences.
  1. Collaborate with the principal and other school and district personnel to identify, evaluate, and implement research-based curricular materials and instructional methods that support the required strategies of Title I, NCLB, and the required state and district academic standards in mathematics and English language arts.
  1. Assist with federal and state Title I program evaluations.
  1. Serve as a member of Title I school and district planning and advisory committees.
  1. Assist the School Support Services Department staff in monitoring school-level compliance of all Title I assurances and in collecting and archiving all required Title I documentation.
  1. Work flexible hours (some after school hours) to facilitate staff training, parenting and tutoring programs, enrichment activities, and other duties as assigned from the school and/or district level.
  1. Assume other related Title I duties as assigned by the principal and/or School Support Services Department

  1. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  2. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  3. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Decision-Making:
  1. Work is non-standardized and widely varied requiring the interpretation and application of a substantial variety of procedures, policies, and/or precedents used in combination. Frequently, the application of multiple technical activities is employed; therefore, analytical ability and inductive thinking are required. Problem-solving involves identification and analysis of diverse issues.
  2. Supervision is present to establish broad objectives relative to basic position duties or departmental responsibilities. Independent judgment is required to set objectives, coordinate activities within a department, or to complete a project. Actions taken may be based on similar situation encountered in the past.

Communication:
  1. Requires regular contacts to discuss issues of moderate importance and to respond to inquiries. Also requires continuing contacts with officials at higher levels on matters requiring cooperation, explanation, and persuasion or with the public involving the enforcement of regulations, policies, and procedures.
  2. Plan events that will occur during the year, and have some effect on the grant's annual expenditures, and/or revenues.

  1. Responsible for making recommendations to enhance school improvement efforts. Responsible for mentoring others. May also be responsible for acting in a lead capacity.

  1. Advanced Professional Skills: The professional theory and practice of the level above, but applied at the advanced level of a "seasoned" professional. Requires extensive knowledge of their professional discipline and a working knowledge of related fields. Understands information in several unrelated professional disciplines.
