Residential Dining Custodian

DescriptionThe Associated Students of CSU, Chico is recruiting for Residential Dining Custodian. This is a full-time, full-year (2080 hours), non-exempt position. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00pm to 6:30am with a 30 minute meal period. This schedule qualifies for a night shift differential rate of pay of $20.70 - $21.95/hr. Should this schedule change and no longer qualifies for shift differential, the base pay range is $18.00 - $19.25/hr; placement in range is dependent upon experience with new hires typically starting at the beginning of the range. Basic life, AD&D, and long term disability are fully employer paid. Retirement is offered through CalPERS. This position is open until filled; applications reviewed upon receipt.RESIDENTIAL DINING CUSTODIANSUMMARYThis position is a working level position which has responsibility for performing general custodial, housekeeping, and other related projects or duties under general supervision in assigned areas of Associated Students buildings and facilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSKeeps assigned areas and buildings and facilities in a clean and orderly condition.Train, oversee and direct the work of student employees as required.Sweeps and mops floors.Cleans and vacuums rugs and carpets.Empties and cleans waste receptacles.Removes recycling materials from bins as needed.Cleans hallways, restrooms, offices/rooms, lobbies and food service areas.Restock restroom supplies.Operates cleaning equipment and machinery as needed.Maintains proper work safety standards.Enforces building security procedures.Observes and reports needed repairs to buildings and equipment.Reports inventory shortages to supervisor.Other duties may be assigned.POSITIONS DIRECTLY SUPERVISEDNoneTYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONSWork is performed in building, and outside environments; exposure to dust, heat, and toxic substances; contact with staff and the campus community.TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination in order to properly and safely use tools and cleaning equipment; ability to communicate with others; ability to read and understand labels on caustic chemicals; ability to reach high and low; occasionally works in high, precarious places; occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes and/or airborne particles; ability lift and move objects weighing up to 50lbs. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTSPrior experience in carpet, hard floor, office/room and restroom care. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSPost-offer, pre-employment physical.Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Associated Students will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals any disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
