The Quality Engineer involves ensuring manufacturing processes and engineering drawings align with customer requirements, overseeing key quality programs like FAI, calibration, and internal audits, and supporting quality system audits. Additionally, the position provides backup for the Quality Manager and Lead Inspector, ensuring continuous adherence to quality standards. Full time position M-Th 10 hr shift (5:30a-4p).

Description

  • Review design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals.
  • Ensure products meet organizational and customer quality standards.
  • Provide analysis and expertise during the inspection process.
  • Investigate non-conformances, identify root causes, and implement corrective/preventive measures.
  • Analyze data to identify quality trends and prevent future defects.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of manufacturing specifications and customer requirements.
  • Initiate first articles, VSE, and customer-specific requirements for new jobs.
  • Complete characteristic accountability and verify conformance by measuring parts.
  • Oversee the calibration system for measuring equipment, gages, and fixtures.
  • Assist Quality Manager with 3rd party, special process, and customer quality system audits.
  • Back up the Lead Inspector and Quality Manager as needed.
  • Coordinate the Internal Auditing Program.
  • Support incoming inspection as required.

Profile

  • GD&T: Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Technical Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret machining and fabrication drawings, work instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Metal Fabrication: Experience with exotic metals, stainless steel, and mild steel.
  • Quality Control Tools: Skilled in using verniers, micrometers, and height gauges.
  • Work Habits: Methodical, efficient, dependable, and detail-oriented.
  • CMM Experience: Familiarity with using Coordinate Measuring Machines; Romer Arm CMM experience is a plus.
  • NDT Knowledge: Understanding of Non-Destructive Testing processes such as FPI and X-ray.
  • Inspection Reports: Ability to create and organize inspection reports and bubble drawings for new parts and revisions.
  • Industry Standards: Knowledge of relevant industry standards.
  • Laser Lab Testing: Experience with laser lab testing submission and review is a plus.
