The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of Ansys Sherlock and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand and document customer requirements and accomplish development objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES Apply engineering expertise and knowledge of finite element analysis and simulation techniques to develop and validate physics-based failure models. Lead and complete experiments necessary for new model development, validation, and documentation. Lead working groups to define and document user-facing requirements for new functionality, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. Develop technical expertise in one or more simulation areas related to electronics reliability Submit suggestions for product improvement. File defect reports and verify fixes adhering to defect reporting processes. Participate in field testing of new releases to ensure that new features and workflows will address customer requirements On an as-needed basis, support Sales and Marketing by conducting demonstrations, webinars, online training, and other meetings. Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions. Provide highest level technical support to internal users and Channel Partners. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required education and degree type: BS in Mechanical/Reliability Engineering or related field with 2 years’ experience or MS Working experience in an engineering software environment Demonstrated expertise in Electronics Reliability Analysis, i.e. PCBA Solder Fatigue Established research in an academic or professional setting, high aptitude for mathematics and solid experience in finite element analysis (FEA). Proven use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred education and years of professional experience in a mechanical engineering software environment: MS+3, PhD+0 Demonstrated expertise in Ansys Sherlock Demonstrated experience leading small technical teams to achieve stated goals.
