Objectives may include development of communication, cognitive, motor, emotional and social skills. Some techniques utilized to achieve this goal are singing, listening, instrumental music composition, creative movement, guided imagery and other methods as appropriate.Essential Job FunctionsProvides written documentation of services and submits documentation in timely fashionMaintains prescribed level of productivityInteracts professionally with consumers, parents, school staff and other providersKeeps abreast of current treatment technology, literature, practices, and regulationsFamiliarize self with Medicaid/insurance regulationsParticipate in interdisciplinary meetings as necessaryMaintain working knowledge of functioning/maintenance/safety procedures pertaining to department equipment such as tools, audio visuals and musical instruments Minimum Job QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy OR Completion of an approved Music Therapy Equivalency ProgramBoard Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC)6 months of experience working in the area of Music TherapyTraining Requirements During Employment: Must completed all assigned training, including successfully completing the IFSSA/DDARS waiver training module.Specific Requirements:Must be at least 18 years of age per state requirements.Must have CPR and First Aid certificationsBe free from communicable diseases as evidenced by an annual negative TB test or unremarkable chest x-ray.Must have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with clients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.Must be willing to accept supervision and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.Sevita is a leading provider of home and community-based specialized health care.
