About the Role:

As a Senior Tax Accountant at TD SYNNEX, Public Sector , you are the in-house expert responsible for managing a range of tax matters. This includes ensuring compliance with sales tax regulations in over 32 states, Canadian Provincial Taxes, BPOL Tax, Personal property tax, and other identified taxes. In addition to your compliance duties, you also assist with various tasks within the Accounting Department. Your role demands a keen understanding of tax regulations, meticulous attention to detail, and efficient navigation of complex tax systems. Your contributions are vital to TD SYNNEX's financial success and adherence to tax laws.

What You'll Do:

Primary Liaison between TD SYNNEX Public Sector and Avalara (third party sales tax filer) for all support issues.
Monthly reconciliations between TD SYNNEX Public Sector Accounting and Avalara, for sales amounts and sales tax.
Reconcile Sales Tax payable balance sheet account.
Answer all sales tax inquiries sent to public folder.
Review and approve all sales tax and provinicial tax returns.
Liason with states on all sales tax matters.
Responsible for sales tax audits.
Responsible for multi-state indirect taxation (sales & use tax, personal property tax, and business licenses).
Provide tax codes for new products.
Interacting closely with sales representatives and external customers on sales tax issues.
Maintain master tax issue tracker detailing received notices, action items and progress.
Develop training materials directed to sales and admin.
Keep Staff Accounting Department abreast of all issues and new tax related information.
Develop Desktop procedures for internal sales tax procedures.
Other duties as assigned to include, GL/Expense recons, B/S recons, assisting with credit memo processing.

What We're Looking For:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required
Master's or MBA in Taxation or comparable graduate degree
5 yrs experience filing multi state sales tax; understanding taxability of products
Progressive experience in state tax audits, multi-state indirect taxation (sales & use tax, personal property tax, and business licenses)
Software industry exp preferred
Provincial tax experience
Experience maintaining integrity and accuracy of accounting data
Can effectively use MS Office Suite, intermediate MS Excel skills
Ability to analyze complex data
Ability to problem solve
Ability to manage competing priorities and be deadline driven
Experience effectively collaborating with team and other employees in an organization
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

CPA Certification
Experience with Avalara
Experience with MS Dynamics NAV
Experience in Reseller, Distribution and Government contract environment
