The Company is currently working onsite based out of the Pennsauken, NJ Corporate office for Forman Mills.

Job Function:

The Controller is a key member of the finance leadership team and reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The Controller will have primary day-to-day responsibility for all finance and accounting operations including Sales Audit, A/P, Payroll and Treasury functions, production of financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The position is responsible for insuring the timely and accurate review and completion of the monthly and annual financial statements close process, timely completion and filing of all tax returns, and working with third parties to complete audits and tax returns. Additional responsibilities may include projects which require coordination with key business leaders, focusing on budgeting, asset management, project management, cost control, etc. The Controller will assist the CFO in developing, analyzing, and communicating financial information to internal executives, the Board and Audit Committee and other external partners that will be utilized to drive the key initiatives and areas of opportunity to improve the financial performance of the business. This position requires the business and financial acumen to handle confidential information and/or situations while balancing multiple responsibilities and influencing key stakeholders.

As Controller, you'll lead our accounting team in general accounting & reporting, revenue accounting, payroll processing, accounts payable, tax reporting, cash management and treasury activities. Our Controller will work closely with the CFO and CEO to establish, implement and maintain policies, procedures and internal controls and support varying business initiatives. You'll be responsible for driving timely and accurate reporting of the company financials.

Responsibilities:
• Lead and direct all aspects of accounting and finance operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, sales audit, payables, auditing and payroll.
• Prepare, review and ensure the accurate reporting of monthly financial statements in a timely manner and analyze company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets.
• Develop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Oversee and implement effective internal controls; ensure the Company maintains compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
• Lead annual financial audit and other engagements requiring independent, third party reviews and address and respond to issues as required.
• Ensure all tax filings are timely and accurate and leverage internal and external resources to address issues and audits.
• Manage an efficient, timely, accurate month-end close by incorporating improvements into an existing process.
• Perform cash flow reporting and analysis to ensure actual results align with forecasted and budgeted expectations.
• Prepare and analyze general ledger accounts, account reconciliations and audit schedules.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses and projects as dictated by business needs
• Manage treasury and cash management including borrowing base and cash flow reporting.
• Monitor and assess the performance of the accounting department's staff to create a high engagement, high performance culture including hiring, on-boarding, performance metrics and evaluations, development plans, coaching, recognition and disciplinary action activities.
• Direct a team of 5 with the following direct reports:

o Accounts Payable Manager

o Sales Audit Coordinator (3)

o Staff Accountant

Required Experience & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be an experienced accounting leader responsible for the day-to-day activities of the corporate accounting function.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Retail industry experience preferred; multi-unit, multi-state.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP, related financial reporting standards, including inventory, lease accounting, revenue recognition standards, financial statements and budgeting.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, monthly closure and reporting).
• Demonstrated strong team leadership and development skills. The ability to manage, influence, inspire, build and develop teams with varied skills sets
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to present financial information in both verbal and written formats to all levels of management, Ownership and external constituents
• Highly organized approach, superior work ethic, unquestioned integrity, a 'no job too small' mentality and a 'can do' attitude
• Detail-oriented and "roll-up-your-sleeves" professional.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail, high level of accuracy, and excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Well-organized, inquisitive, confident, self-aware, decisive and creative.
• Strong systems aptitude and proficiency, including expert Excel skills. Proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications is strongly preferred.
• Great Plains experience is a plus.
