WhiteSky is looking for a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering to join our growing and diverse team. You will help lead the engineering group for one of our key products as were architect and improve the product to deliver next generation capabilities on an improved and updated tech stack.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use your technical expertise and management experience to bring hands on technical leadership and people management responsibilities for a distributed engineering staff, with multiple scrum teams and team members in the US
  • Collaborate with network engineers, product managers, designers, and software architects within a cross-functional software delivery methodology to empower your engineering team members design and implement new user experiences and features for our customers.
  • Manage project delivery and collaborate with business stakeholders and product managers to define reasonable delivery timelines and appropriate strategies for delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Help improve and define engineering best practices on an ongoing basis for your product and potentially for the WhiteSky engineering organization. Provide input on technical feasibility of designs and present options for implementation approaches to guide planning of projects, identify risks and opportunities to mitigate or avoid risk.
  • Serve as a mentor for your engineering team members and help them grow professionally and technically as engineering practitioners. Work with teams on other WhiteSky products to build integrated customer experiences, share data and improve interoperability between RealPage products
  • Mix of hands-on and management oversight of following technologies/platforms/languages (non-exhaustive):
    • PHP
    • Ruby
    • Angular
    • Apex
    • Composer
    • LAMP Tech Stack
    • Java Script
    • JSON
    • C#
    • .NET
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • 5+ years of experience as a hands-on technical leader of engineering teams.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development including design, implementation and maintenance of complex web applications.
  • A solid understanding of software design patterns and object-oriented design principles, and an ability to collaborate over the best approach to problems and communicate engineering principles and practices to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • 5+ years of experience coding and delivering PHP applications, including strong fundamentals in Object Oriented Programming in PHP and modern PHP frameworks and a firm understanding of general software architecture principles. 5+ years of experience with unit test automation (e.g., PHPUnit or similar frameworks)
  • Strong understanding of industry best practices for software engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Experience with projects in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure
