Summary:

Teach 5th-8th grade music classes while our current Middle School music teacher is on leave in the fall of 2024.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests.
  • Plan, organize, and lead the MS music classes and choir program, which are designed to promote academic, social, and emotional development in a supportive and engaging learning environment, using the curriculum framework provided by the current MS music teacher.
  • Create an emotionally responsive, caring, positive, and accepting environment supportive of the individual development of each child and family.
  • Supervise young children and ensure a safe and loving environment including the ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and other areas of the campus.
  • Attend Middle School faculty meetings and Fine Arts Department meetings, as needed.
  • Evaluate each student's growth and performance.
  • Provide constructive feedback to parents.
  • Prepare and distribute report cards online.
Requirements

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience teaching or coaching music with middle grade students, preferably in independent schools.
  • High level of competence using technology
Upon Hiring
  • Completion of Safe Environment Training.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks.
General Competencies:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Treat parents as partners in their child's education.
  • Strong people skills in order to be empathetic to children's and parent's needs.
