Position Summary

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning HR and organizational objectives with employees and leadership in Consensus Health medical group practices. The position supports the practices on all human resource-related issues. We pride ourselves on building and maintaining strong relationships with our physicians and office managers and empowering them to make sound decisions in line with our values. This role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs, communicating proactively with HR colleagues and practice management. The HRPB seeks to develop integrated solutions and deliver value-added service to the physicians, management, and employees. The HRBP should be prepared to drive greater levels of innovation and service in support of current and future organizational success and growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform post-deal HR integrations with respect to practice adoption, hires and similar transitions, including data entry of all new hires into Workday, and completing New Hire All-Staff Meeting as assigned.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with all levels of employees at physician practices; this function will require a regular cadence of onsite meetings. This includes quarterly calls with practices to discuss their needs and visiting each practice a minimum of once per year to meet with OM and office staff for an open roundtable luncheon and Compliance Walkthrough.
  • Work with Consensus cross-functionally on the HR portion of integration engagements, including, but not limited to HR service delivery and operations, people-related compliance, compensation and benefits, organization design and execution, talent management, selection, onboarding, change management and data analytics.
  • Primarily responsible for driving the recruitment and hiring process for all open roles at assigned practices/departments to ensure timely fill of role (with assistance on MD/DO roles from Medical Directors/Physician recruiters).
  • Make all job offers for positions filled at respective practices assigned, including offers for MD/DO roles and including HRVP who will initiate contract with legal.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues: performing root cause analysis, conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations, developing plans that support positive outcomes alignment with the organization's core values and industry best practice with input from HRVP.
  • Participate in identifying HR risk exposure in HR due diligence including compensation and benefit plans, HR Service Delivery and retention building a diverse workforce and accelerating the performance, growth, and development of Consensus and its employees.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the Operations team to review and edit job descriptions, salary grades and ranges.
  • Support leadership on candidate interviewing and communication expectations. Work with office managers to assure that all interviews are being completed timely in order to ensure timely filling of positions.
  • Facilitate individual new hire collaboration with managers and physicians on first day activities.
  • Hold Monday morning General Orientation Seminar for all new hires on rotating basis as assigned. Track completion of General Orientation and signature sheets.
  • Collaborate with leadership on compensation changes, annual increases bonus payments and/or performance changes.
  • Coordinate staff terminations including the presentation of transition packages, COBRA information, PTO payout calculations, review of health, welfare and retirement benefits plans and actions. Perform transition meetings and track exit interviews on all exiting staff.
  • Answer basic benefits, 401k, or handbook policy questions as needed. For more involved questions defer benefits inquiries to Assistant Director and policy questions to VPHR.
  • Champion the Learning & Development program in the Practices. Assists with staff invitations, reviews staff satisfaction about courses and instructor. Reviews reporting and feedback to ensure program fits practice needs.
  • Assist with performance management activities to align with the timing of the 90 day and annual performance management process. Track completion of 90-Day and Annual Reviews in Workday.
  • Compile and provide information on Workers' Compensation reporting, OSHA, HIPAA, ADEA, ADA, FLSA, LOA, FMLA for assigned practices as requested by other HR team members. Refer all LOA questions to HRG, and ADA Accommodation requests to HRVP.
  • Enter requisitions for replacement only positions for legacy practices. For new model practices, must receive approval from CFO/President for backfills to ensure budget compliance at practice.
  • Coordinate event planning, school internship programs, or compliance assistance as requested by HRVP.
  • Analyze and present a wide variety of people data; partnering with leaders to take action and improve results.
  • Offer a fresh perspective, add efficiencies and effectiveness, incorporate best practices and drive change.
  • Partner internally within the HR department to collaborate, evaluate, project-manage, and deliver results.
  • Facilitate and/or provide various training to the workforce.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications or Education, Training, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field and at least 6 years of experience as a generalist or HR Business Partner required.
  • Preferred PHR or SPHR Certification.
  • Experience working on the Workday platform preferred.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and clinicians and manage them through complex and challenging issues.
  • Proven ability to influence others at varying levels.
  • Ability to research and analyze various types of data.
  • Must have the skills necessary to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with our values, standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, or government law.
  • Additional experience in HR specialty areas like diversity and inclusion, workforce planning, training and development is plus and will be considered.
  • Superior interpersonal and relationship building skills. Ability to quickly establish and build effective "partner" relationships, manage sensitive and confidential information, and inspire trust.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities and lead and work with urgency in the midst of a significant business/organizational transformation.
  • Demonstrated success developing and implementing talent strategies that support culture, acquisition/retention, diversity, and other organizational goals.
  • Must be able to travel and provide own transportation. Role requires 40 - 50% travel throughout the state of New Jersey in support of medical group daily operations and when onboarding newly acquired physician offices.
